Founded in 1972, The Door empowers educationally and economically disadvantaged youth to reach their potential by providing a complete range of services all under one roof. Each year over 11,000 young people from all five New York City boroughs come to The Door for primary health care, reproductive care and health education, mental health counseling, legal services, supportive housing, HSE, ESL, tutoring and homework help, college preparation and computer classes, career & education services, job placement, daily meals, cultural arts and services.

Position Responsibilities:
• Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks • Perform urine pregnancy tests, urinalysis and HIV rapid tests • Perform hemoglobin and Strep A Test • Handles laboratory supplies inventory of lab equipment • Maintain sanitation and infection control as per Wadworth protocol • Assist with rotation of laboratory supplies • Assist in conducting and adhering to quality control procedures • Assist with performing all clerical duties as required, and performs data entry, documentation of test results, and filing of laboratory results as needed • Performs any other duties applicable to the job as requested by supervisor

• High School Diploma required • Graduated from an accredited Allied Health Program • Phlebotomy skills (certification or equivalent by a national phlebotomy association preferred) • Strong written and verbal skills. • 2+ years’ experience; 4+ years’ performing venipuncture • Knowledgeable of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people • Ability to work effectively and creatively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. • Proficiency in Spanish, French or Mandarin strongly preferred
