Raiz Program Manager

Date Posted: 7/20/2017
Organization: Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Location: Washington, D.C.

Description of Organization:

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the nation’s leading women’s health care provider, educator, and advocate, serving women, men, teens and families. For over 100 years, PPFA has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) has long been committed to increasing civic engagement in the Latino community — the nation’s fastest growing demographic and one that faces many obstacles to health care access.

The Raíz program is Planned Parenthood’s national effort to work with the Latino community on fights for reproductive health, sex education, and access to care. In the first year of the Raíz program, organizers worked on voter registration, Medicaid expansion, immigration reform, and passed a comprehensive sex education reform.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is seeking a Raíz Program Manager. The Program Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing existing organizing operations as well as expansion locations, managing 1-3 organizers in each of 4 states (AZ, FL, NV, TX), and developing and implementing training and fellowship opportunities for organizers throughout the federation. This person will also work closely with a DC-based team on program implementation and planning.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the campaign planning and management of outreach organizers who engage Latino communities on unique efforts designed in coordination with affiliate long-term strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with Planned Parenthood affiliates, community organizations, coalition partners, and other leaders to ensure long-term engagement and resource building.
  • Manage and oversee a metrics-driven reporting system to track progress daily, weekly, and monthly with focus on rigorous quality-control measures reporting to the Campaigns Director.
  • Contribute to strategic plan development, training curriculum, and the development of outreach materials.
  • Facilitate monthly evaluations and conduct formal end-of-project evaluations of outreach organizers.
  • Collaborate with Planned Parenthood’s Health Center Advocacy Program (HCAP), Education Department, Communications Division, and Strategic Partnerships team, to ensure close coordination, data sharing, and development of best practices.
  • 50-75% travel required

    Qualifications:

    Technical Expertise

    • 5-8years of political or issue-based campaign experience with at least 2 cycles managing multi-site programs.
    • Budget management experience.
    • Strategic mindset with flexibility to quickly adjust tactics.
    • Metrics-driven approach to planning, evaluating, and reporting on progress.
    • Experience with VAN.
    • Spanish-language proficiency strongly preferred
    • Personal Qualities/Other Attributes

      • Strong leadership qualities and experience managing a staff.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Experience in at least one of the target states preferred.
      • Experience with campaigns in diverse communities preferred (with emphasis in Latino communities/populations).
      • Understanding of the issues facing communities when it comes to accessing health care
