WASHINGTON, DC— The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP), representing more than 12,000 reproductive health care providers, researchers, and educators, is pleased to announce the appointment of board chair, Michael A. Thomas, MD, to the Advisory Board of the Reproductive Medicine Network (RMN). The RMN is a multicenter network of clinical sites that conduct and publish high-quality clinical studies in reproductive medicine. Established in 1989, the RMN is part of the Reproductive Services Branch (RSB) of the NIH’s National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD). The appointment was approved by Dr. Alan Guttmacher, chair of NICHD, who founded ARHP in 1963. “I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the RMN,” said Dr. Thomas. “The advances that come out of the RMN clinical trials are critical to our work as reproductive health professionals.”

Dr. Thomas attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency at Wayne State University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He went on to complete a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has been a member of the University of Cincinnati faculty since 1990. Dr. Thomas is a member of a number of professional societies, and has served on the medical board of Planned Parenthood of Cincinnati, and as past chair of the Contraceptive Special Interest Group of American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

“Dr. Thomas is an incredible leader in the field, and the RMN Advisory Board will benefit greatly from his expertise in infertility and endocrinological disorders affecting reproduction” said Wayne C. Shields, president and CEO of ARHP. “Dr. Thomas’ leadership has been instrumental to ARHP, and I know he will bring that same passionate commitment to reproductive health to the RMN Advisory Board.”
