PRESS STATEMENT: FDA Issues Delay on Emergency Contraception Over-the-Counter

ARHP is disappointed by yet another delay in ruling on over-the-counter access for the emergency contraception (EC) product, Plan B. Access to EC has the potential to prevent thousands of unintended pregnancies each year and the scientific evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that EC is safe, effective, and easy to use for women of all ages.

By citing long-known regulatory barriers regarding age restriction enforcement, the FDA continues to deny women the right to protect themselves. ARHP expects an expedient resolution to this issue.
